Service A and Service B at a glance
Mercedes-Benz uses a flexible service system. The car tracks mileage, time and how it is driven, then shows Service A or Service B on the dash when a visit is due. Here is what each one covers on most current models.
| Item | Service A | Service B |
|---|---|---|
| Full synthetic oil change and new filter, to Mercedes oil specification | ✓ | ✓ |
| Check and correct fluid levels | ✓ | ✓ |
| Check tire pressures and tread, correct pressures | ✓ | ✓ |
| Inspect brake pads and rotors | ✓ | ✓ |
| Reset the maintenance counter with XENTRY | ✓ | ✓ |
| Replace the cabin (dust / combination) filter | ✓ | |
| Brake fluid exchange | ✓ | |
| Extended inspection: suspension, steering, exhaust, belts, lights, underbody | ✓ |
Extra numbered items depend on your model and mileage. Spark plugs, the engine air filter, transmission fluid and coolant all come due at set intervals. We pull the exact list for your car with XENTRY before we start, so you pay for what the schedule asks for and nothing that it does not.
What happens at your visit
- XENTRY scan. We read the service computer for the items due, plus any stored fault codes. A Service A visit is a good moment to catch a warning before it turns into a repair.
- The service itself. Oil and filter to the correct Mercedes approval for your engine (229.5, 229.51, 229.71 and others), fluids and tire pressures, then the inspection.
- Photo inspection. Your technician photographs anything worth knowing about, such as brake pad thickness, a seeping oil line or a cracked engine mount, and notes what is urgent and what can wait.
- Written estimate before extra work. If something needs attention beyond the scheduled service, you get a written estimate on your phone. Nothing extra is done until you approve it.
- Reset and record. We reset the reminder and give you an itemized invoice listing parts and fluid specifications for your warranty file.
Models we service
All passenger Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG models, including C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, GLC, GLE, GLS, G-Class and the CLA, GLA and GLB. AMG models such as the C63, E63 and G63 follow the same A and B pattern with some extra items, and we service them in the same bays. Sprinter vans have their own schedule; see our Sprinter van repair page.
Why the schedule matters in South Florida
Broward driving is hard on a Mercedes even when the miles are low. Short trips in heat and humidity, stop-and-go traffic on I-95, Federal Highway and Sunrise Boulevard, and long idles with the A/C running all count as severe use. Brake fluid takes on moisture faster in our climate, which is why the brake fluid exchange in Service B matters. Cabin filters clog quickly with summer pollen and construction dust, and a clogged filter makes the A/C work harder. Cars that sit for months while their owners are away should still get the yearly service, because oil ages with time as well as miles.
Service A or B with a warning light on
If a check engine light, a brake wear warning or an AIRMATIC message shows up at the same time as a service reminder, tell us when you book. We scan the fault during the same visit and quote the repair separately, with photos, so you can decide what to do now and what can wait. See Mercedes-Benz repair for the repairs we handle most.
