From Margate to our Oakland Park shop
Margate sits in north-central Broward where Atlantic Boulevard crosses State Road 7. Our Oakland Park shop is the closer of our two shops, roughly 7 to 10 miles away depending on which side of Margate you start from.
- State Road 7 / US-441 and Commercial Boulevard: go south on State Road 7 to Commercial Boulevard, then east across Florida’s Turnpike and I-95 to Andrews Avenue. NE 44th Street runs east off Andrews.
- Atlantic Boulevard and I-95: take Atlantic Boulevard east to I-95, go south to the Commercial Boulevard exit, then east to Andrews.
- From west Margate: Rock Island Road or Banks Road south to Commercial Boulevard, then east.
Shop address: 250 NE 44th St, Oakland Park, FL 33334, (954) 303-0758. If you can’t get away from work, call the shop to schedule pickup.
Margate neighborhoods we serve
Homes and condos along Atlantic Boulevard and Margate Boulevard, the State Road 7 corridor, Holiday Springs, neighborhoods along Royal Palm Boulevard and Coconut Creek Parkway, and the streets off Rock Island Road and Banks Road near the canals on the west side.
State Road 7 stop-and-go
State Road 7 is one of the busiest commercial roads in Broward, and a lot of Margate driving happens on it or on Atlantic Boulevard. Lights every few blocks, heavy traffic and summer heat add up to a specific kind of wear.
- Brakes. Constant stopping wears pads and rotors quickly, especially on heavier SUVs and pickups. Squealing usually means the wear indicator is touching the rotor. Grinding means metal on metal, and the rotors are now part of the job.
- Transmissions. Stop-and-go heat is the hardest thing on automatic transmission fluid. Delayed engagement, slipping or a flare between gears are early signs. Some CVTs in Nissan, Honda, Subaru and Toyota models shudder when the fluid is worn. See transmission repair.
- Cooling and A/C. Sitting at a light at 95 degrees with the A/C on full leans hard on the radiator fan and the A/C compressor. A temperature gauge that creeps up at idle needs attention before it becomes a blown head gasket.
- Steering and suspension. Potholes and patched lanes knock out alignment and wear tie rods, ball joints and control-arm bushings. Clunks over bumps and a wandering steering wheel are the signs.
Canals, rain and standing water
Margate is laced with canals, and summer downpours can leave water standing on side streets and in parking lots. Driving through deep water can damage engines, transmissions and electrical connectors. If the water reached the bottom of the doors, or the car stalls or shows new warning lights afterward, don’t keep restarting it. We inspect for water in the oil, the air intake and the cabin. Our flood-damaged car repair page explains what we check and how we help with insurance claims.
Small business vehicles
The State Road 7 corridor is full of small businesses that depend on a truck or van. We service pickups, cargo vans and Mercedes Sprinter vans, and set up fleet accounts with priority scheduling and consolidated account billing. Because the Oakland Park lot has a 24-hour key drop box, a work vehicle can come in after the last job of the day.
