Auto Repair for Tamarac, FL Drivers

Updated

Tamarac drivers who need auto repair can drive straight east on Commercial Boulevard to Prestige Auto Repairs & Tires in Oakland Park, 250 NE 44th St, about 7 to 10 miles. We have no shop in Tamarac. We repair every make, including hybrids from Toyota and Lexus, European cars and Tesla, with photo inspections and written estimates. Open 7 days, 8 AM – 7 PM, with 24-hour key drop-off.

One road from Tamarac to our shop

Tamarac runs along Commercial Boulevard in west-central Broward, and Commercial Boulevard runs straight to our door. That makes the Oakland Park shop the closer of our two shops and a simple trip: about 7 to 10 miles depending on which end of Tamarac you start from.

  • Commercial Boulevard: head east past University Drive and State Road 7, under Florida’s Turnpike and I-95, to Andrews Avenue. Turn onto NE 44th Street, a short block east of Andrews.
  • McNab Road or Prospect Road: from the north side of the city, drop down to Commercial Boulevard and continue east.
  • From the Sawgrass Expressway: exit at Commercial Boulevard on the west side of Tamarac and head east.

Shop address: 250 NE 44th St, Oakland Park, FL 33334, (954) 303-0758. Can’t make the drive? Call the shop to schedule pickup.

Tamarac communities we serve

Kings Point, the Mainlands, the Woodlands, Colony West, neighborhoods along McNab Road and Pine Island Road, the University Drive and Nob Hill Road corridors, and the homes and condos around the lakes and canals between Commercial Boulevard and Prospect Road.

Hybrids in Florida heat

Toyota and Lexus hybrids are popular across Broward, Tamarac included: Prius, Camry Hybrid, RAV4 Hybrid, Lexus RX and ES. They are reliable cars, but South Florida heat targets a few specific parts.

  • Hybrid battery cooling. Most Toyota and Lexus hybrids pull cabin air through a small fan to cool the high-voltage battery. When the intake filter or fan clogs with dust and pet hair, the battery runs hot and ages faster. Cleaning it is simple maintenance that often gets skipped.
  • Inverter coolant. Hybrids have a separate cooling loop for the inverter, with its own electric pump. If that pump fails, the car sets warning lights and can limit power.
  • 12V battery. A hybrid still needs a healthy 12V battery to start its systems. A weak one can make the car refuse to go into ready mode.
  • Brakes that seize. Regenerative braking means the pads do less work. In humid weather, caliper slides and rotors can corrode from lack of use. We clean and lubricate the hardware during brake service.

We also work on plug-in hybrids from BMW, Mercedes, Porsche and Volvo, plus Tesla and other EVs.

A/C that has to work every day

Many Tamarac drivers make short trips at midday: a round of golf, the pharmacy, lunch on Commercial Boulevard. A cabin parked in the sun can get dangerously hot, and a weak A/C becomes a safety issue for older passengers. Warm air at idle, a musty smell or a compressor that clicks on and off are early warnings. We find the cause with gauges and leak detection before replacing parts. See car A/C repair.

Lakes, canals and summer storms

Tamarac has a lot of lakes, canals and golf-course drainage, and heavy summer rain can leave water standing on low streets and in parking lots. If you drove through deep water and the car now runs rough, smells musty inside or shows new warning lights, have it checked before you keep driving it. Our flood-damaged car repair team inspects the intake, oil, wiring and cabin, and can help with insurance claims.

Why the drive east is worth it

Tamarac has shops closer to home. Drivers who come to Oakland Park usually want one of these: Sunday hours, a 24-hour key drop box for early or late drop-offs, factory-level diagnostic tools such as BMW ISTA and Mercedes XENTRY, in-house body and paint, and a 2-year / 24,000-mile warranty honored at both of our shops. If you work in Fort Lauderdale or Oakland Park, the shop also sits close to your commute, so the car can be dropped off on the way in and picked up on the way home.
