Getting to Oakland Park from Delray Beach
Delray Beach is in Palm Beach County, and the Prestige shop that serves it is our Oakland Park location, roughly 21 to 24 miles south depending on where you start. It is the closer of our two shops.
- I-95: use the Atlantic Avenue or Linton Boulevard interchange and head south past Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach. Take the Commercial Boulevard exit, go east to Andrews Avenue, then onto NE 44th Street.
- Florida’s Turnpike: from west Delray, the Atlantic Avenue interchange puts you on the Turnpike. Ride south to the Commercial Boulevard exit and head east to Andrews Avenue.
- A1A or Federal Highway: from the beach and the neighborhoods east of the Intracoastal, these coastal roads run through Highland Beach and Boca. They are pleasant but slow, so most people use I-95.
Shop address: 250 NE 44th St, Oakland Park, FL 33334, (954) 303-0758. Prefer not to make the drive? Call the shop to schedule pickup.
Delray Beach neighborhoods we serve
Downtown along Atlantic Avenue, Pineapple Grove and the blocks around Old School Square, the beach area along A1A, Lake Ida, Seagate and Tropic Isle, the Linton Boulevard corridor, the communities west of I-95 along Atlantic Avenue toward Jog Road and the Morikami Museum, and Highland Beach to the south.
Downtown driving is hard on wheels and batteries
A lot of Delray Beach driving happens on and around Atlantic Avenue: short hops to dinner, valet stands, tight parallel spaces and plenty of red lights. That pattern has its own wear.
- Curb rash and bent wheels. Low-profile tires on 19- and 20-inch wheels leave little room for a curb. A hit can scuff the rim, bend it enough to cause a vibration, or knock the alignment out. We check the wheel, tire and alignment, and our in-house body and paint team handles scuffed bumpers and panels.
- Weak batteries. Short trips with the A/C, seat coolers and screens running never fully recharge a modern battery, especially on BMW and Mercedes models with start-stop. We test the battery on every visit and register replacements to the car where the maker requires it.
- Brakes in stop-and-go. Frequent stops at low speed wear pads and set off wear sensors sooner than highway miles do.
Beach air and summer storms
East of Federal Highway, salt mist from the ocean settles on everything. It speeds up corrosion on brake hardware, exhaust parts, wheel bearings and the fins of the A/C condenser that sits behind the grille. During summer downpours and seasonal high tides, some low streets near the Intracoastal can hold water. Driving through deep standing water can pull water into the air intake or soak wiring connectors. If your car runs rough or shows new warning lights after a flooded street, have it checked before you keep driving. Our hurricane and flood car guide covers what to do.
Cars that sit for the season
Some Delray Beach cars spend the summer parked while their owners travel. A car that sits in Florida heat for months often comes back with a flat or weak battery, tires that have lost pressure, brake fluid that has absorbed moisture and A/C seals that leak once the system runs again. A pre-season check before you start driving daily covers all of that.
