Choosing the right tire

We start with what the car came with. The sidewall of your current tire tells us the size, load index and speed rating, and many European makers also mark the tires they approved for each model: a star for BMW, MO for Mercedes-Benz, N0 to N2 for Porsche, AO for Audi and T0 for Tesla. We quote the matching option first, then any alternatives worth considering for how you drive.

For an everyday Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Ford or Chevrolet, that usually means a quiet all-season tire with good wet grip, which matters a lot in South Florida summer storms. For an SUV or pickup, we check the load rating so the tire matches the weight the vehicle carries. For an EV, we look at tires built for the extra weight and instant torque.

Tire balancing in Oakland Park

A wheel that is out of balance shakes the steering wheel or the seat, usually between 50 and 70 mph. On I-95 you feel it right away. Low-profile tires make it worse because there is little sidewall to soak up the vibration.

Standard balancing spins the wheel and adds weights. Road-force balancing goes a step further: a roller presses on the tire to measure how stiff each section is under load, the way the road does. When a tire has a stiff spot, we can match-mount it so the tire’s high point lines up with the wheel’s low point. If a tire or wheel is out of spec even after that, we show you the reading before recommending a replacement.

Wheel alignment in Oakland Park

Alignment sets the angles of each wheel: camber, caster and toe. When they drift, the car pulls, the steering wheel sits crooked, and tires wear on one edge. The streets around Oakland Park have their share of potholes, curbs and speed humps, and one hard hit can knock an alignment out.

Our alignment process at this shop:

  • Measure first, and print the readings for all four wheels
  • Inspect steering and suspension parts, because worn tie rods, ball joints or control arm bushings will not hold an alignment
  • Adjust to the maker’s specification, including rear camber and toe where the car allows it
  • Center the steering wheel and reset the steering angle sensor when the car needs it
  • Print the after readings so you can see the change

If worn parts are the reason an alignment keeps going out, we photograph them and put them on your estimate. Read more in our guide to why a car keeps losing its alignment.

Flats, TPMS and Florida heat

Flat repair. A nail in the center of the tread can usually be repaired from the inside with a plug-patch. Damage in the shoulder or sidewall cannot be repaired safely, and we will show you why.

TPMS. Tire pressure swings several PSI between a cool morning and an afternoon parked in the sun. A light that comes and goes can be low pressure, a sensor with a dying battery, or a sensor that was never relearned after a rotation. We test each sensor and complete the relearn so the dashboard reads correctly. Our TPMS sensor repair page covers this in more detail.

Heat and age. South Florida sun and heat dry out rubber, so tires can age out before the tread wears down. We read the four-digit date code on the sidewall and point out cracking you might not notice.

Tires and brakes together

New tires grip only as well as the brakes behind them, and a brake that drags wears a tire unevenly. When the wheels are off, we look at pads and rotors and include photos. If brake work is due, our brake repair team in Oakland Park handles it in the same visit once you approve.

Estimates and warranty

You get photos and a written estimate before any work. Nothing is installed or replaced until you say yes. Repairs carry our 2-year / 24,000-mile warranty, and our technicians are ASE-certified and factory-trained.

Questions drivers ask

Frequently asked questions

Can I get tires mounted on a Sunday in Oakland Park?
Yes. The Oakland Park shop at 250 NE 44th St is open 7 days a week, 8 AM – 7 PM, including Sunday, and walk-ins are welcome. If your size is not in stock, we order it and call you when it is in.
Why does my steering wheel shake at highway speed?
The usual cause is a wheel out of balance, often after a lost wheel weight or a pothole. A bent wheel, a tire with a stiff spot, or worn suspension parts can feel the same. We road-force balance the wheels, check each one for runout, and photograph any worn parts before suggesting more work.
How often do I need a wheel alignment?
Have it checked whenever you buy new tires, after hitting a curb or a deep pothole, after suspension or steering work, or if the car pulls or the steering wheel sits off center. Otherwise, a check about once a year is sensible. We measure first and show you the readings before adjusting anything.
